Contact the Canadian Coast Guard: Wrecked, abandoned or hazardous vessels
If there is a maritime emergency, call your regional 24 hour emergency line.
Report the vessel to the Canadian Coast Guard and don’t touch it if it:
- may pose a risk to the environment or to the health and well-being of the community (for example, the vessel is in poor condition and could harm the environment if it sinks)
- appears to have been abandoned
- appears to be in a worn-down state (dilapidated) and has been in the same location for an extended period of time without authorization
- appears to be a military or heritage wreck
In cases where you know or believe you know the identity of the owner, consider providing that information to the Canadian Coast Guard.
